My Therapy Style

My path to becoming a therapist began in the medical field, where I discovered that the most meaningful part of my work was connecting deeply with people and supporting them through their struggles.

My own experiences navigating life’s challenges have strengthened my commitment to walking alongside others on their journeys. I understand that reaching out for help is a brave and difficult first step. I offer a compassionate, non-judgmental space where you can feel safe to explore what's on your mind.

My approach focuses on helping you recognize unhelpful thought patterns and, more importantly, helping you see and use your own strengths. I specialize in working with individuals who are facing anxiety, depression, challenging life transitions, and trauma.

I'm here to support you in building a life that feels more balanced and authentic. When you're ready, I'm here to help.

Meet the Therapist

"The healing of one impacts the whole."

Elizabeth Storey, LLMSW

My Therapy Style

Elizabeth Storey is a compassionate and dedicated therapist based in East Lansing, Michigan, with experience working across a wide variety of settings and a diverse range of issues. Her formal education, paired with lived experience, has shaped a practice grounded in genuine empathy and a deeper understanding of the complex challenges her clients face.

Elizabeth specializes in working with anxiety, depression, trauma, substance use disorders, intimate partner violence, anger management, grief and loss, life transitions, and the unique emotional and psychological needs of older adults. She is also deeply committed to supporting women's issues across the lifespan with special focus in mid-life transitions and menopause support. She is proudly LGBTQ+ affirming and creates a genuinely inclusive, judgment-free space where every client is welcomed exactly as they are.

With a trauma-sensitive lens guiding her work, Elizabeth understands that the struggles people carry are rarely surface-level, and that meaningful support requires meeting people where they are, without judgment. Whether you're navigating addiction and recovery, processing past trauma, healing from an abusive relationship, working through anger, adjusting to a major life change, or facing the challenges that come with aging, Elizabeth shows up with patience, authenticity, and deep respect for your experience.

Elizabeth draws from an integrative approach, weaving together evidence-based modalities including Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Motivational Interviewing (MI), mindfulness-based practices, and psychoeducation. Working from a strengths-based and trauma-informed framework, she tailors her approach to each individual, honoring that no two paths to healing look the same.

Her dual credentials (LLMSW, CAADC-DP) reflect her commitment to understanding the complex intersection of mental health and substance use, a space where many people find themselves without adequate support. Elizabeth believes that treating the whole person, not just the presenting issue, is the foundation of real and lasting change.

"The healing of one impacts the whole."

If you're ready to take that first step — or even just considering it — Elizabeth would be honored to support you on your path toward healing, clarity, and a stronger sense of self.
